Will My Bridge Be Custom-Made?

When a patient in the Newhall, CA, community comes to us with minor tooth loss, then our team can provide a prosthetic to address the gaps in his or her smile. A custom-made dental bridge not only looks natural, but provides a comfortable fit and long-lasting solution to missing teeth. When should you see our team for possible treatment options?

The Oral Health Risks of Missing Teeth

What happens when we lose a tooth? Well, the surrounding teeth may have trouble staying in place, the resulting misalignment then causes issues with your smile’s appearance. Poor alignment also makes thoroughly brushing and flossing difficult, and is linked to higher risks of tooth decay and gum disease. Missing teeth can upset your bite balance, increasing the risk of strain on the jaw joints and the onset of both TMJ disorder and bruxism, two disorders linked to headaches, jaw pain, and in some cases, damaged teeth. Your missing teeth could also make eating your favorite foods difficult, and could cause embarrassment as well.

Creating a Custom Solution

To replace between one and three teeth in a row, we may suggest a custom dental bridge. To start the process, we will remove structure from the teeth on each side of the gap in your smile. These are referred to as abutment teeth. We then take detailed impressions and images of your smile, using this information to design your bridge. The prosthetic will contain pontics, or new teeth, with crowns on each end. We place the crowns onto the abutment teeth, which anchors the new ones firmly in place. You then have a full smile! With proper care and attention, including daily brushing and flossing and routine six-month visits, your bridge can last for between 10 and 15 years!

A Lifelike Appearance

We always take the appearance of your smile into consideration. The prosthetic will be created from lifelike materials, such as ceramic, which contains stain-resistant properties and can be shaded to match the color of surrounding teeth. The material also absorbs serious bite forces and can help restore function to your smile. If you have any questions about your tooth loss, or if you would like to discuss possible solutions, then contact our team today. We would love to help you enjoy your best smile with a custom prosthetic that fits comfortably and offers a lifelike appearance.
