Our Full Dentures Provide A Full Smile

When most of your teeth are lost, or all of them, then you could develop serious oral health issues, and problems with your quality of life. In today’s blog, your Newhall, CA, dentist talks about how we can design and craft a full set of dentures, and how this can benefit your overall quality of life.

The Causes and Risks of Major Tooth Loss

Losing most of your teeth could mean serious trouble for your oral health! For example, the body will suspend or divert the flow of calcium to the jawbone around the missing roots, which leads to a breakdown in the structure, one linked to further tooth loss and an aged appearance. You could also find yourself severely limited in what foods you can eat, depriving yourself of favorite meals and essential nutrients. You may feel embarrassed when you smile or in social situations, which further impacts your quality of life in a negative way. Your missing teeth could be the result of injury or cavities/infection, but is most likely the result of periodontitis, the advanced stage of gum disease.

Creating a Dental Prosthetic

When you see our team, we will gather detailed digital images of your smile to identify the cause of your tooth loss. We can see if underlying oral health issues need treatment, and we may need to extract the last few teeth to clear the way for the prosthetic. Once we do, we will take detailed digital images, which we use in a dental lab setting to design and craft the finished product. The full denture will contain an acrylic base that mimics the appearance of gum tissue, and holds a full row of ceramic teeth. These will be able to absorb daily bite forces and offer a lifelike appearance. You will be able to smile with confidence again!

Removable and Implant-Secured Dentures

The removable option is held in place with suction or adhesives, and will last about 5 to 10 years before requiring replacement. The implant option is attached to multiple dental implants that have been placed in the smile. These can last for decades to come, or possibly a lifetime, and never need to be removed for cleaning or soaking. If you have any questions about treating tooth loss, or about which option is best for your own case of tooth loss, then contact our team today to learn more.
